Buyer beware
Just a heads up... if you're one of those whom seek bottom open zips and like to bid, one on the old auction site.
International Frankenmuth, bottom opened zip - Relided. It's very obvious, if you don't see why, please educate yourselves. Hint - study canning companies, and the style zip tops they used. This one doesn't match.
If you're the seller, sorry, you have a relid. If you know and still trying to sell, shame on you.
If you're the one with the seamer and did the relid... PRO tip, maybe use the proper lid the next time you are re-lidding flats into more a more desirable ($$) can for resale.
If I piss someone off, so be it... this is what happens to a "hobby" when $$$ becomes the dominating theme turning it into a business. If this can didn't have minor scuffing, it would end up on either of the Dan's auction blocks and would fetch big money, fake and all.
OUT for now, back to my cave and fishin'. Life is good.

As a collector and buyer of bottom opened zips, I'd love to see the example you are talking about. Can you post a link?JAL wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 10:20 am Just a heads up... if you're one of those whom seek bottom open zips and like to bid, one on the old auction site.

Not looking to bash the seller, just would like to see this example.
Thanks in advance.

Flats, cones & early tabs. Ohio cans, ultra clean cans & shine. East coast cans. Rare rust. And, whatever else catches my eye.

Re: Buyer beware
@JAL and @OhioCanGuy
I know what JAL is talking about. He was instrumental in what I learned and was able to summarize in my Zip Tab story.
It would be nice to put together some kind of reference tying specific tabs to specific can companies. There was a time when lids were unique to their can companies. If anyone's got something to share in this regard, I can see if we can put something together for the reference section. It's easy to spot a crappy re-lid job. If a person's good at it, then the only thing left to check is if it's the correct lid for that can company.
I went through the Volume II Supplement and singled out the ones brewed by International. Then I backtracked the images to find the can company responsible for each can. I identified each lid with its respective can company. The Continental tabs are similar in style and design and the same goes for the American cans.

@whitealtesziptopguy
Thanks for sharing. Pics of the lids would help this thread if you can provide.

Re: Buyer beware
I believe this may be the can @JAL was talking about.
Here's one from @oldmoneytexan's collection.
Obvious difference in the lids.
