Of course it will look better in hand than the supper light Dan applies to cans for the auction.

Says it is 'Brewery: Home Brewing Co., Richmond, Alabama'

Must be unlisted in the books...

Good catch... Richmond AL...It is a great looking can. :smt023 Just a green horn question... Does the crown make it more valuable? I would assume the can is empty, so the crown (cap) has been removed. How does the buyer know that's the crown that came with the can? I see that the cap is likely from the era but I'm a born skeptic.

I only have two cones and they both have the crowns but both have also been emptied. I emptied them myself but I've thought about this very thing, especially if it adds value. I mean no ill will here, I'm just asking questions.

Yes a little bit. The crown makes it a tad more valuable but not enough to really effect the price when bidding. You can get that crown on ebay for maybe $15. I try to find appropriate crowns for all my cones. I think they look more authentic with them on. Some say that to make them air tight it helps to preserve them from rusting. Bottom line for me is that it makes the cone top more desirable for me but wouldn't effect my max bid at all when trying to buy. There are a few examples when crowns are really rare and expensive to purchase or nonexistent to find that I would up my bid though.

Thanks for clarifying. I like to have the crown with the can too. I guess in this instance, it's not too consequential, since you can buy the crown without the can. I know there are guys that collect crowns and some of them go for crazy money. I was just curious...

Sorry about the hijack HDbeerman.

You are right! This can never shows up! I’m native VA, and this can never shows up at shows in Virginia. I have dumped it a few times but always lousy shape since super metallic silver never holds up in a dump. I was fortunate enough to pick this one up in a trade many moons ago. Yes, it has some humidity spotting , but seriously doubt I will ever upgrade!
