A couple of basic questions about pop cans

#1

Post by stringsx24now »

Forgive me if these have been covered in other threads, but I am just curious.
What has been the cans that sold for the most money? Documented, not just rumor. Although credible rumor gossip is almost as good!
And secondly, what is the ONE or TWO Holy Grail cans in the pop can hobby?

Just trying to learn, plus thus forum has been awfully slow lately. (RB forum in general). Are the high posters drifting away?
Whoops. Sounds like I am hijacking my own thread.

I believe the forum is a bit slow because most are gearing and packing up for Blue Grey...I do not follow sales of pop cans so I'm no help on that inquiry, as for Canadian Holy grails.... we have many 12oz and 10oz cans that are yet to be discovered so any of them, for myself I'd like to find an upgrade for my Kist Green Label.

Well as for US grails that's a pretty big list!...but recent sales show a C&C Super 12oz cone top imitation grape went for 1400, A Topps grape flat top went for 960. And the recent fever has been all about the Back to the Future aluminum diet Pepsi cans that have sold for 400-600. Pepsi cone tops of the double dot variety always seem to fetch 700 or so.
Hard to nail down a one or two grail for myself.
As for Canadian stuff a recent sale of rare pair of Expo 67 chocolate drink cans sold for 860. A Teem soda went for 39O.
I've seen many soda cans go for good money in the last few years.

So about the forum being slow, you aren't wrong. It seems one of the other forums I'm on is a little slow too.
But the RB facebook page seem pretty active!...it has over 2k members now. I think many of the top posters here from the 2010-2015 either post very little or not at all anymore.

The recent sale of a Light Rock quart for $10,600 made a statement. It wasn’t even a 1+ example.
I collect one flavor of rare soda can generations. Also publish Collectible Soda Cans - don't hesitate to contact me with cans you have available or questions about old soda cans.

Agreed. This is the highest priced eBay auction for a single soda can that I’ve seen. I’m thinking that a Coke quart sold for more than this through an auction house a number of years ago.

I may be wrong but wasn't the auction for two Cokes one big and one smaller quarts. And it was like 15k right?

Di-A-Best by Cumberland Beverages there were 5 sheets sold on eBay. Ranging from $1,700 to $2,600 each. I may be a little off on the high and low but it was real close. Several cans have sold for 1k or higher recently including a Hippity Hop Pop for $1150! Also tracking eBay bidders there are a number of new collectors getting in the action.

Maybe and I'm thinking a few others over 1k. 😁
