Does Anyone Know About Old Paintings?

#1

Post by Digger_Jim »

I bought a couple of rolled up painting for $3.00 a a yard sale several years ago. They were rolled up together and are Oil on Canvas. No these are not printed. They are both landscape scenes and are signed by the artists.

One is on an 19"X 22" canvas, and is signed Dixan

The other is on an 18" X 22" canvas, and is signed Stram

Any thoughts?

I know a slight amount. Just from the two pictures they look decent. Definitely some skill/talent showing. I am unfamiliar with the artists names. Probably local/regional artists.

Maybe try to track down the artist and if deceased find a family member. If they aren’t rare they might be valuable to a family member. Just a thought

I decided to get them restored and framed through a professional art gallery, taking the chance that my investment will pay off. Right now it's about 150 each on the framing. Not sure about how much cleaning and and repairing is needed, but it doesn't look like much. They are already at the gallery. I have five really good detectors, 7,000 beer cans, so I figured I'd send my money in another direction.

I would have definitely spent the $3 on them if I saw them. Excellent find.
