Wisconsin start this Saturday. It will be tough for me as I hitting the Northwood. If I don't get one. then I might head to the farm country during muzzleloader season.

@willssoda
Bill,
It must have been lacking something in it's diet or maybe some other factor. Definitely small.
Thanks for posting!

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Did not have a very good year hunting deer this year. Lots of things went wrong. But i did happen to shoot this nice 6 point Blacktail Buck.
Until next time, may your totes always be full of cans and your past and future dumping trips be in your dreams at night.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Shot buck on Green island in Prince of William Sound with .338 Win. Mag. I did hunt Michigan for 8 days. Was on 3 different stands for a total of 92 hours. Saw 2 shooter bucks (4 on a side Mecosta county) for a couple seconds each. Never got a shot at either one.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Congrats on your buck also Will. Got back from Michigan and had 2 days before i went on my Saskatchewan Canada trip for Whitetail.....went and got test to fly into Canada and tested positive. ....so i had to cancel trip, would not let me into Canada. I am quarantined for 14 days. I have zero symptoms for 10 days now........Green island trip spent most of trip in hotel waiting on windy weather to clear up.....got to hunt only 3 days. What a sucky year. Oh well...that's hunting

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Well, Wisconsin gun and muzzleloaders season is done. I did not see the buck during that time. It was a slow season during that period. I think the rut start early than normal this year by the time Gun season open , buck were tired.? So I decide to post a photo that was on my trail camera. that I was after. These photo are the Northwood buck in the wolf country ! Now, I put my blaze orange clothing away, and put my snow camo out and do different kind of hunting.

Alaska Chris- Whoa !!! That a Big Lynx !!! I wonder How Big does it weigh ?? Here in the MIdwest, There is not many lynx in Wisconsin, I think there is more in Northern Minnesota and Upper Michigan. I do have a question to ask you. What kind of fox species live in Alaska?? Here in Wisconsin, it Red and Grey fox, Some say there is Silver but that for another story.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
There are 2 types of fox in Alaska....Arctic Fox and Red Fox...Arctic Fox are white.....The red fox comes in different color phases, red, cross, black, and silver. A silver fox is just a red fox who has black fur with silver on the tips......Wolves comes in different color phases also like this black one.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Well,
Here's some of the honkers taken in the early season in Michigan. All came from the southern half of the lower peninsula. Lots of farmlands so they're well fed and it shows in their antler growth.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
Because I can't get out anymore, most mornings I'll check a couple of cams for activity. One of my favorites is the one in Iowa. It will let you go back about 8 hours to scan for activity. Here's a link if interested:
http://www.thecrush.tv/deer-cams/live-deer-cam
Some screen shots from last night. The last one is a daylight view of the location:
I believe there's some kind of rule out there that you can't within a certain radius of a game feeder. I'd have to double check. The location is a regular farm not any kind of game ranch.
Not sure how, but I was able to access the camera inside the feeder frame. Was able to capture this image.

Re: It Starts Today In Michigan!
If you visit the Iowa cam with the link I provided, you might appreciate this mini-tutorial.
This button will toggle the pause feature on/off during live video and previous (up to 8 hrs) video.
This button will rewind whatever video you're watching for 10 Seconds and resume play.
There's a camera mounted to the frame of the feeder. If you select this feature, the video will stop, a brief commercial will play and the the close up video will begin to play.
They actually have a microphone that plays any sounds that occur during the video.
This will toggle you between the Live view and the recorded (Not Live) views. The Not Live view will also show the amount of time you've gone back from the Live view.
I never used this one but I assume you can share a pic or video via social media or other venues.
I never used this one because I was more interested in the current videos.
This should be self explanatory. To exit full screen, usually the escape key or F11 will return you to normal screen.
If you find this helpful, I'm glad. In any case, enjoy the site. I certainly do.
