The photos didn’t come out in the correct order but that’s fine. Can you guys guess which state I’m dumping in? lol.

Not sure I follow what your saying. I’m aware of what a meat chicken is but does this have another meaning on this forum? Lolkruegerbock wrote:Meatchicken

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
My first guess would have been Maine....kidding obviously...
@Moltke_woods Great job on the can cleaning.....you're not Leon's alter ego in disguise trying to pull a quick one...Inside joke but if you had been here previously you'd have known what I meant.....
Great to see another Michigan collector in the hobby. Hope to see you at the Summerswap show...ask @thatsus02 all about it.
There are no dumb questions here. Don't be afraid to ask anything. Hope you make it out in the woods with some fellow Rusty Bunchers when winter breaks this year....

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I’ve been browsing this forum for quite a while now and I’m familiar with Leon and his can cleaning abilities. He’s the one who suggested to me to use lemon juice when I posted my first can find in the bottle forum. So far I’ve just used lemon juice and a wire brush on my Dremel to clean up all the non painted parts. Once this damn snow melts I’m gonna hit the dump where I found that awesome honers j spout and hopefully pull out some more. If that happens I’m definitely gonna try some out oxalic acid and hope for better results I don’t want to ruin any good cans.keithker wrote:My first guess would have been Maine....kidding obviously...

Welcome to the Rusty Bunch! You did a fine job cleaning those cans. That uncleaned Drewrys looks like a battleship grey variation.Very nice and keep those Honer cones coming!

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
FYI....."meat chicken" I believe was meant to be phonetically similar "Michigan"
The two back panels on the Goebel will be the interesting bit. In general, that variation is pretty common, but there's one or two oddball variations that crop up now and then, but the difference is on the back. Agree that the mostly uncleaned Drewerys is likely the battleship gray.

Welcome to the Rusty Bunch and the wonderful and whacky world of beer can collectors. Thanks for posting and good luck once the snow melts. You should have some fun given the labels you posted. Try oxalic you wont go back to lemon juice.
Thanks. Dave

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
Ahh gotcha, The uncleaned Drewerys is the same can as the cleaned one so I wouldn’t say that looks like battle ship grey to me but not sure. Thanks for the info on the Goebel, I know there common but it’s my favorite Michigan brand.Rand wrote:FYI....."meat chicken" I believe was meant to be phonetically similar "Michigan"

I’m glad to see you posting. The Honors is a kickass can to find. Now go find the High Profile version.
Are these from an actual dump?

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
Thanks! The pfeiffers and the oil can are from the 40-50s section the bottle dump I dig and all the rest came from a sand pit dump where I’m guessing people once had bonfires drank beers and ripped around the sand pit in there trucks. Dug those on 1/11 this year which was awesome!bantam10 wrote:I’m glad to see you posting. The Honors is a kickass can to find. Now go find the High Profile version.

Yeah that’s pretty awesome. Do you like finding oil cans? I know of a spot you might like that has lots of them. + lots of those Drewrys cans.

Only found that one shell can so far but I think it would be nice to dig some more. I’d dig anything right now actually this winter stuff is nice until you get the itch to dig and you can’t go lol

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
Have you found any other cans at the 40/50’s dump? Condition is pretty clean on what you’ve found.

Re: New to dumping cans here’s what I’ve found.
Nothing much else as far as cans go. I only used to dig for bottles until I found the Johnny pfeiffers inside of another can. Condition was nice so I took it home and that’s how I got started on cans but this was the end of December and I haven’t been able to get back to dig for more.bantam10 wrote:Have you found any other cans at the 40/50’s dump?
