Actually the brand is known ... shipping cost seams high
If they were so concerned they should have just picked it up and disposed of it rather than blog about it. Greenies savin' the earth... At least he has a zero feedback so we can trust him...
I think a 70% donation of 99 cents is about 69 cents. Tax deductible, I believe.

I was interested in the Red Top Ale, but didn't want to go quite that high. Someone shot those cans up - here's the entry hole in the lid, and the exit wound in the back.

I guess I should have snagged a metallic Ale or two along the way, as they've gone crazy the past couple years. I have the brown one and two enamel green ones - the metallic one is common by comparison, and this is the most common one at $1,725 spotted up.

What’s the deal with below Schlitz Dark? Paper label? If so, did it actually contain beer?

Yes, very strange and difficult to understand the sequence of events. Shot decades ago then brought inside and saved? Found and shot more recently? Not sure what a real good enamel Red Top Ale would go for nowadays - the USBC can sold for $20,000 12 - 13 years ago. It was believed to be the only ongrade-ish example at the time, though a better example turned up and sold as part of a small group of cans several years ago. It presumably sold again more recently. Either way, the eBay can shows more than $10,000 in damage from being shot . . .

That is my thought also. He's got another Croft, Clyde and Scotch up this week, each shot through the bottom with the exit wound on the seam. I might have played on the Red Top Ale if the exit wound was in the seam, but I do have a pretty darn good metallic Ale - what I really need is a Beer.

It depends on what city it is from. If that is from Frankenmuth, I'd say you got a nice can at a fair price.

I put this on my watch list solely to see whether it would get the $250 opening bid or not . . .

I am partially responsible for that Export OI price as my nuclear snipe finished second. It had a couple of bids by snipe time and I remembered the recent thread we had on this and the "milwaukee" without the cool before serving variations so though it might get $400-500. Plus I had just been surprised by falling $200 short on a Schmidt Extra Special flat a half hour earlier and was determined to win this one. There were a lot more bids on the Schmidt though.

It looks like Pabst is following suit with other national and large regional breweries with relatively recent jumps in prices, so I'm glad I got the six I wanted before that happened. This one, Lilek 644, is definitely tougher than 642 and several 642's have done very well in multiple venues recently.

I'm sure Leon appreciates your bid. I assume this is the best one from his find a few years ago, as his other listings last week were his shelf cans.

Yeah, good for Leon. Since there were no bids yet I did send him a message when I saw it Saturday morning to see what he was looking for on it, he didn't really say but I think from his past posts he likes to set the minimum bid at the lowest price he would accept so I am sure he is happy with the result. I feel like lower opening bids is the way to go to generate more bids/interest but it didn't hurt him this time. Only 4 bidders but I think $388 was the lowest max bid among us.

I really need to invest and get the Lilek book, Pabst are really the only OI's I specialize in so figured I would just learn as I go with them but I am still pretty clueless on how tough all the variations are and I have been following them for probably 3+ years now.

The Lilek books are great just to see the back sides of the cans, but Chris Taylor can give you more updated information on Pabst OI's - he's collected them for decades and has kept track of finds and so forth. I wonder about the accuracy of Kevin's numbers on the older cans - he rates the first two as R-6/R-6 and R-8, and I consider both tougher than the R-10 third one in decent indoor condition.

I mean, I know I'm new to this hobby (or new again) but this seems insane to me!

Yeah, he'd be lucky to get someone to bid a bid a penny at auction with the $18.41 shipping charge. We see a fair number of crazy Buy It Now prices since eBay eliminated their insertion fees, which were a small percentage of the price previously. They offer me 50 free listings per month, and I assume big sellers get more than that.
