A couple from Dan's most recent auction and one each from the Good Guys and Tavern Trove . . . a J-Spout, a pre-war Crown Can Co. flat and a couple of full-length opener cans.

The Good Guys seem to be my Feigenspan connection - I won the matching 1935 Ale from them a couple years back, and the Withdrawn Free Beer prior to that. I've been the underbidder on four Union Cream Ales over the past three years or so, including this one the first time Dan put it up. It carried stickers for Dave Reid and David McCaslin at that time, but only for Todd Peters now . . . I guess Todd removed the other stickers. I've passed on a number of Brockerts in this condition over the past 25 years, first because I had bigger fish to fry and later because I was holding out for a nearly flawless example. When one finally came up, it sold for double what I'm willing to pay, so I figured get this one now and see what happens down the road. The same is true for the Colonial Ale, but only for ten years.

It's been a pretty lean year, so it's really nice to grab a few in quick succession.

Thanks. I guess "expensive" is a relative term. I'm sure these weren't as expensive as one might think. The Union Cream Ale should have been the most expensive in the group, but six have been auctioned off over the past three years (including this one once before), and this one sold for less than half of what the cheapest of the others brought. The colors are somewhat light on the Feigenspan and I assume that kept the price down some. The colors are so even that it's difficult to accept it as fade, plus the can immediately following it does come in a "lighter colors" variation and is considered "real" because six were found in an attic where they were exposed to no light. Manufacturing variation is another possibility. Either way, it's a tough can to get and I was surprised my bid held up. The Brockert and Wehle exist in decent numbers in less than pristine condition, and that had me holding out for better examples. Better examples brought high enough prices at auction to change my mind. The Brockert didn't sell much higher than similar condition would have cost 20 years ago, so it seemed like a decent buy. The Wehle was Jules Kish's downgrade and I had seen it in Jules' tote a couple times at shows and passed due to condition. In reviewing previous auctions for the Wehle I just noticed that mine was incorrectly listed as USBC-OI 862, the most common one. It's actually 863A, which is rated as R-10! The difference is just a Canco manufacturing code (MPC), a difference I don't care much about, but I'd still prefer the R-10 to the most common one . . .

My Acquisitions from the November Good Guys auction arrived today. Pearl TOC, Heidel-Brau (Heidel-Brau Brewing Co, Sioux City, IA), Schmidt Rodeo (Pfeifer d/b/a Jacob Schmidt), Muskie and Ice Fishing (Jacob Schmidt div Associated). Probably overpaid for the Pearl and Heidel-Brau, but I don't think I was too out of line. The Schmidt scenes I think were ball park.

Can anyone tell me anything about the Pearl TOC?

I really like the color on that sign. Very sharp. Unfortunately, I do not know anything about it. Great buy!
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

@canman65

I had the pleasure of getting together with Jack Lucas yesterday. During our visit, he generously passed on the Fox Deluxe cardboard case shown below to me. This case was originally found at an antique store by Dave Launt. At the time, the box was being used to hold correspondence received during WWII. Dave only wanted the box but was told he needed to buy it all, so he did. When he was done with the box, he passed it on to Jack who in turn, has passed it on to me. I feel very fortunate to have it. Thanks!

Here are my acquisitions from the Mid-Missouri Brewery Collectibles Show held in Osage Beach yesterday. Sorry about the narrative and the pictures being messed up, but something has changed on the message board and they only get shown in one big bunch of pictures that will only post after the text.

First picture is a couple of "Mulo" bottles. Muehlebach's Imitation Grape, and G&C Special Dark Brew that were produced during prohibition. Special Dark Brew doesn't sound very appealing, but it must be good since it says "M-M-M-M..." all the way across the top and bottom.

Second picture is a Rochester Brewery glass that I worked out a deal on well before the show and agreed to pick it up at the show.

Third picture is a bunch of Schmidt that I bought. Jacob Schmidt, Pfeiffer DBA as Jacob Schmidt, Associated DBA as Jacob Schmidt, Associated DBA Jacob Schmidt zips, Jacob Schmidt Div of Associated with and w/out zip codes, and Associated yellow and blue backs.

The 4th pic is some PBR art cans that I picked up. I kind of like those for some reason.

The 5th picture is an assortment of cans that I picked up. The cleaner of the two Manhattan cans had a note on the top stating that it was found in the Eagle River inside a Sinclair can a mile upstream from Minturn, which I figured out was in Colorado.

And the last picture is a yellow Muehlebach tray, that is supposed to be the easiest of the Muehlebach trays, but one I haven't been able to acquire up until now.

A friend of my buddys wife owns an antique store in Wisconsin, these beer cans from the 1950s were in the bottom of a box of medicine bottles that came into her store....long story short, he asked her for some pix of beer signs to decorate his mancave and he spotted these and put me in touch...it pays to get the word out in your hobby!

I haven't had a 1950's can on the shelf for many years, aside from cans I dug myself, but it looks like I'm going there if a big goat is involved . . .

I decided a couple years ago that I should have an early Goebel since I'm from Michigan. A metallic Fox Deluxe fell in my lap shortly after I decided that, and now the Goebel has come along.

I bought this can from
Todd Gerhardt , it had some nasty dents on the seam, Dale Bramlette made it presentable in about 5 minutes...love WW2 cans especially with a patriotic theme

Despite the Flakes of Death forecast for today, I went to the Cornhusker Chapter Spring Show in Omaha and had a really good day.

Picked up some glassware:
I drank beer from teensy-weensy glasses

Country Club Malt Liquor, a couple different pre-prohibition Edelweiss Schoenhofen, Heidel-Brau Beer of Sioux City, W. R. Riley Distributing of Kansas City MO, and a Zoller's Beer from Davenport IA.
How many glasses did you have? 72!

The backside of the Country Club Malt Liquor with a slogan, the backside of the Heidel-Brau Beer with a Sioux City Centennial logo, and a Heidel-Brau Beer ashtray
12 ouncers I picked up

Lone Star pull-tab upgrade, Ace Sioux City Brewing, Heidel-Brau Sioux City Brewing, Buckhorn pull-tab upgrade, '62 Old Mil zip, Storz Premium Dry upgrade, Pearl, Bud 2 city bottle back upgrade, Drewerys Chicago, Fox Brew (great graphics), and Storz Premium Dry Select upgrade
Schlitz Bud Schmidt Draft

'60 Schlitz Softop upgrade, 3 city Budweiser, and Schmidt Draft Pints

The advertising that's been the backdrop of all the above. It caught my eye. I'll get it framed. From 1958 if I interpret the codes correctly.
The Schmidt Wagon!

I bought a Schmidt Wagon! It lights up. The chain on the tongue of the wagon attaches to the light fixture inside and pulls the chain to turn it on and off.

And finally, my raffle winnings

I also bought a Schmidtload of Schmidts that I didn't photograph. They're almost all Jacob Schmidt division of Associated Brewing with a few Associated and Pfieffer d/b/a Schmidt

One correction: A quick Google search that W. R. Riley Distributing should be W. R. Riley Distillery. Guess I had beer on the brain and all abbreviations become beer related.
