Keith those 16oz Dawson’s are pretty cool

My recent acquisitions, to be honest they are what I got at Guzzle n Twirl this past weekend. I am very pleased to find and get the 16oz Stite. Yes, it does have a slight bit of fade in the red, but otherwise a clean good condition can that I consider kind of tough. I have only seen two other cans available at shows in the last ten years or so, but to be fair I might have just have not seen them at other shows.
The Schmidt draft has a scuff mark or two on the face but is otherwise shiny.

Attended the 39th Annual Midwest Breweriana Convention sponsored by the Cornhusker Chapter. Pretty good show. Fairly equal mix of breweriana and cans. Picked up quite a few cans. Won about six cases of craft cans. Haven't dug through those yet.

More Schmidts, all are additions. The aluminum ones filled holes in those sets and came from someone selling cases of mostly 70's stuff for $2. Also added the Schlitz pop top zip, the Stag juice top, and the Country Club button top from him as well along with some other fairly common cans that I may need or will probably replace humidity damaged cans.
12 ouncers

Coors fan tab, Kansas City Schlitz, a Schmidt Draft I needed, and others I thought were deals.

Some cabottles that I wanted from my teams, (The Iowa Hawkeyes one was a freebie, go Cyclones!), some racing ones, and an Adam Wainwright/Yadier Molina can.

I actually did pick these guys up last Wednesday. Nothing spectacular outside of the Coke cans; although, I was able to shelf the Black Label as a Natick MA variation that I didn’t have. All the cans had lids removed and were found in a barn clean out; apparently used to store nuts, bolts, etc. In surprisingly great condition with beautiful old lids remaining. I met the seller at a flea market where he had 4 of the cans with him and got his # in order to purchase the rest. All but the Black Label and 2 of the Cokes are available and posted in the Advertise forum if interested in any.

Interesting factoid: The Roger Williams Brewing Corp. was only in business from 1933-1940.

I love the Union Cream Ale - I've been underbidder on four or five of them in the past three years or so. I worked the day of the auction, and at least two of you outbid me on this one. I have to agree with Nobes; it looks much better in your photo than in Dan's.

Another little known fact: It's an early example of a very small group of pre-war flats manufactured by Crown Can Co. - Schultz, Roger Williams and Monarch seem to be the only breweries who used their standard 12 oz. flats before the war.

Fascinating info, did not know that. A pretty exclusive club really. Thanks for posting!

I agree with both of you. The can does look better in my pics vs. Dan's. IMHO, my pics are more representative of the can in hand or on the shelf. It does have some humidity spotting, and that spotting is more concentrated to the left of the face. However, the deep gold metallic shines like no tomorrow. Really reflective. From six feet away, sitting on the shelf with other cans, your eye is just drawn to it. Really has its own presence.

I've been interested in acquiring one of these for a while as well. I have no doubt that Marc and I have bid against each other on these in the past. I bid more than I wanted to on this one, but glad to have it in the end. That said, I still spent more than 50% less than the can in the link below, and to me, they are in very similar condition. Also, the can I acquired appears to be all original, which has value to me.

Fun Stuff! :smt023

I've seen a pretty decent number of these over the years. There used to always be one or two at Blue/Grey in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Somebody told me of a find of a case or so way back in time. I've never seen one that didn't have little nicks and scratches plus a little light humidity, and I assume most are from the one find. And yes, it's a visually stunning can that draws your eyes to it no matter what else is nearby.

The auction result for the re-lidded can was a good example of the looniness we're up against in today's market. I have zero interest in a re-lidded example of the can and it sold for way more than the all-original cans have been bringing. It's impossible to re-lid the can with a proper lid unless you cut up another example of the can. I've been chasing that group of cans for years and have less than half of them, and most of the ones I do have are dumpers.

You have all the scenes but of course there are different versions of those scenes such as early ring pull, Keglined vs CCC etc.

Yes, it looks like I have at least 4 different tab types among the 12 but I don't think I would collect others unless there is a different mandatory like the flat/zips have. How many different sets of the 12oz drafts does the USBC have in it?

My take from the Belleview show:
cans, openers, bottles, tap
cans, openers, bottles, tap

Minty Schmidt's from four different Jacob Schmidt Div of Associated sets. Ring tabs, fan tabs, with and without the zip code. All but one bottom opened. Mostly ring tabs with zip code. The Falstaff is all aluminum. It's much lighter than you'd think it would be and is lighter than the current drawn aluminum cans. Couple of early Busch flats and a Griesedieck flat. 1975 Superbowl Champions Steelers Iron City. Somehow a pint is more fitting than 12 ounces. A $1 Menominee Champion. A Glueck DNCMT 4% by volume variation that isn't in the book (with a Coke lid). An IRTP Muehlebach bottle. A Muehlebach Kroysen bottle. Lastly, a Bevo bottle.

The box is full of openers, approximately 400 of them. The keg tap is from Schlitz and will probably fit the Schlitz keg I acquired at college.

Sorry for the distortion from my iPhone.
