Picked up a couple more points on you this week Murph but I'm still one flat tire away from owing you an O/I. Still pretty close between out two guys, it's a two horse race for the championship but our bet is still up in the air.

POS. DRIVER
1 Jeff Gordon
2 Jimmie Johnson
3 Clint Bowyer
4 Tony Stewart
5 Carl Edwards
6 Kyle Busch
7 Kevin Harvick
8 Denny Hamlin

That had to be one of the most boring races I've seen this year. But there are four more to go and I still have a chance to catch up. Dave things have been pretty even for the last few races so I guess its any ones bet to win. Good luck and I need a win just to catch.

Missed the race due to dumping in NM and the road trip back but I would do that any day. Dave I am catching up little by little but running out of time.
Next race should show if I have any chance at all.

You didn't miss much Murph, it was another snoozer. Good to see Kenseth have a good run for a change. You picked up a few points on me but I think Bowyer will have to have some bad luck for you to catch up. I don't think Edwards can do it on his own, just too many points in too little time. Did you see any of the post race brawl between Edwards and Kenseth last week? Pretty wild. There's video of it on NASCAR.COM if you haven't seen it yet.

Dave, Its about time I throw in the towel. I don't see anyway short of a miracle to catch you so what kind of a can would you like??? OI?, CO? (that I have for trader) or something else? Let me know. Same bet next year???

Well, I guess it aint over 'till it's over but it's, pretty much, over. It's funny, when I proposed this bet I pictured Burton and Kenseth duking it out or maybe even Harvick mixing it up with Kenseth. Bowyer was a wild card but he ended up having a great chase. Without him the whole Burton/Harvick vs Kenseth would be a very close race, I think they're only like 10 points apart with 1 to go. I thought a little bit about the trophy can and I suppose it doesn't really matter what it is. It's more about what it represents than what it is so I'm fine with whatever you want to send. My address is in the roster and also on the inside cover of Rustlings.

I'll bet something with you next year, not sure if I'd go RCR vs Rousch again because Rousch in on the rise and RCR has been slaking lately. A bet like that might be a sure looser. Any opinion on who will do better next year between Kyle Busch with Gibbs or Dale JR with Hendrick?

Also, I'll bet you a Krueger's Special that either Johsnon or Gordon win the championship this year. ;) Man, I can't BELIEVE Johnson, talk about a hot streak!

Johnson without a doubt as much as I hate it. He only needs 8th or better but I look for him to go for the win late in the race to be the first to win 5 in a row due to his ego. Kyle Bush will do much better than Jr. I really look for Jr. to be the flop of the 08 season and not finish in the top 20 by years end.
Dave what are you collecting these days ??? other than cans you have dumped. I have some where around 6 - 700 traders and you are welcome to any of them. I'll get a pic of my OI traders by next week and we will go from there.

AHA! Now we have something to bet on! I'll put a can on Junior finishing better than Kyle Busch next year if you're interested. I think he'll do well and I'm even hoping for a Daytona win. I also figure on Kyle Bush and Tony Stewert coming to blows before the snow melts. Sounds like you're not a fan but I like Jimmy Johnson, I'll be happy to see him win it all. Any can you want to send is fine. A Colorado can you dug yourself might be cool, a little more personal I guess. Like I said I'm looking at as more of a trophy from a friendly bet than a beer can so the label isn't important. More of a reminder of a fun little bet than anything.

Dave, OK we have our bet for next year. I'm true FORD all the way but will go with TOYOTA as both Jr & Kyle are changing teams it is a true unknown for 08. I will check my cans next week as I'm remodeling my living room, hanging sheet rock and finishing a 14 x 24 room.

It's all over now, Jimmie Johnson repeats as champion. He had quite a chase, you gotta' hand it to 'em. Great run by Kenseth (I can't believe they're moving Robbie Reiser, bad move), nice to see him with a good finish after some of the bad luck he's had.

Now comes the long wait for Daytona.............see you in 3 months. :???:

I really thought JJ would race and not just cruse around. Granted he did stay up front but out of trouble and drove a very smart race for the champion he is x 2. Kenseth did good and finished a race so thats one for Roush. Next feb. we start all over again.

I'll throw in my $.02 worth for next year.

Being a Dodge guy, Penske is a step ahead on the COT for next year. Can they keep up with Hendrick??? We'll see in a few months...

What a great start to the 2008 season! The new car makes for better superspeedway racing for sure. Penske goes 1 & 2, Dodges dominate the top 10!

Best commercial was the NAPA one with the die cast collector. That's exactly what Mikey's car looked like after hitting the wall.

I gotta' admit, I thought you were crazy at the time Scott but it sure proved to be true. I would have never in a million years predicted Penske going 1-2 in the Daytona 500.

Murph, your Gibbs Toyotas are going to give me nightmares for the rest of the season. I haven't seen cars so dominant in probably 20 years. Busch and Stewert (particularly Busch) were so much faster than anyone else I can't believe they didn't win. I love JR but I was actually pulling for the #20 today, I'd like to see Tony get him the big one.

Maybe I'm just cocky after the Shootout and the Duels but I thought JR would just coast to a win today. Gibbs had the Hendrick cars so covered it wasn't even funny, those poor fellas never had a chance.

All I know is..............I'm just glad Kyle Busch didn't win. Can't stand that arrogant little snot nose.

I almost forgot about that bold statement regarding Penske. Too bad I can't do that with lottery numbers. The guys on Fox were dead on with the team mates helping each other. Jr. lost all his at the end and did his best. And what about Robby Gordon...who was helping him?

I think NASCAR got exactly what it wanted with the new car. One that leveled the playing field & can be used at every track. Biffle drove his Martinsville car in the Shootout last Sat.!

The last lap of the Busch (oh wait, NATIONWIDE) race on Saturday was awesome. I thought it was so cool watching Stewart go from third place at the top, to second in the middle, and then take the lead on the bottom. The way he was coming down and side drafting off those guys made it look like he was climbing a ladder or something. Picked 'em off 1-2-3 just like that, just killer! Sure wish he could have done the same on Sunday. That #20 is starting to remind me of the #3 in the 500. Seems like he can with everything but the big one. :-x

How about my man Edwards. What a super race he ran on mon. and it looks like the Hendricks cars are still good but not good enough. over all with only 2 races down Gibbs looks to be the team with the most, and with Tony dominating the Nationwide so far with Kyle not far behind it looks good for Toyota this year.

Two in a row for your guys and (and three in a row for the Colorado contingent) and my boys haven't won yet. What's up with THAT? I was glad to see Tony Stewart was OK after he ran in to the wall, man that was a hard hit. Those are the ones that used to kill people a few years ago. I don't think Junior ever had anything for any of the leaders, he just moved up as they wrecked out one by one. I felt bad for Kenseth (again) getting wrecked at the end, that guy just has no luck. First Edwards gets wrecked in the Nationwide race on Sat and then Kenseth in the Cup race on Sunday, that would drive me crazy. I still think the COT is ugly and it is a lot slower but it's made for some great racing so far this year. I thought Vegas would be a real snoozer but it was actually a very good race. :smt023

Congrats on another win and Kyle Busch in beatin' Junior in the points so you're pulling out to an early lead. :smt012

Gordo had the hardest wreck of the day, and a few suggestions for Bruton Smith afterwards. When those guys hit those infield access walls, that is one heavy impact. He said it was the hardest hit he's ever experienced.

I think the new cars look more like cars than the old body styles. I'm still trying to get used to the splitter...all in all though the racing is definitely more competitive.

Oh man that Gordon hit was INCREDIBLE wasn't it??!!! Man, that rattled my teeth all the way in New York! The have to do something about those infield walls, I can't believe he walked away from that. The saftey features in those cars are amazing, heard to believe anyone could walk away from that hit.
