Monticello Extravaganza

Post by Chris E. »

Yes, Monticello Extravaganza is back this year in the familiar confines of Zion Crossroads, Virginia! The show will be the weekend of of July 14-15 and will feature all the bells and whistles of our previous shows including a large trade floor, Friday beer tasting, hospitality room, ladies wine tasting and of course, Beer Can Bowling. Check the BCCA website or contact me for details. Come support this Richbrau and Rusty Bunch sponsored show which dates back to 1988. Hope to see a great crowd there!

Chris, you handle hotel registrations via the form (link below), am I right? We don't call the Best Western?

I just want to add to anyone who hasn't been there -- this is one hell of a good show to work into your summer travels. Good rust, good beer, good time. There's breakfast at the hotel and often there's dumping before, during, and after.

This looks to be my last show of the year, and a great one to go out on. Seems like there's always a collection blowout, and the highway access draws a great geograhpical mix of guys so there are always a bunch of fresh totes. What'll it be this year?

I'm trying to think of the ways to add some fun... might be my daughter's first show, she's shown a passing interest in bottle caps. I could scout out the barbecue down there, or maybe bring my own smoker.

My roomie has a horse racing conflict and can't make it, so I am looking for a roommate Friday and Saturday night.

The Monticello show was excellent! Picked up several nice items and moved quite a bit too! Beer can bowling was held in sweltering hot conditions and the winner had to be decided by playoff after the main game ended in a tie between two contestants! Lots of good raffle prizes up for grabs including a nice Rheingold girl can and Champagne Velvet J spout.

Thanks to all in attendance as well as everyone that had a hand in ensuring a successful show!

Below are pics of my take from the show. I reclaimed the (very) offgrade Falls City can to go into my dumped it myself collection. I found this can in a drained lake in the early 80’s but traded it away yrs ago. Seeing this can was like welcoming an old friend back home!! Also happy to pick up the Old India cone along with Ballantine Bock and elusive Imperial can from Baltimore! Also really like the pre-pro matchstick holder from Robert Portner brewing Alexandria VA and the tough Diamond State I-7 opener.
