Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I did notice that "Mountain Dew" can but passed on it.
What's the deal with that one, any provenance?

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Got it last week. Finally able to take pics.
Yes, it is a rolled flat sheet by none other than Art LaComb! There's no questioning his skills.
My Olde Frothingslosh mentor, @Baxter, says that he's only been able to account for around 15, either rolled or flat sheets over the past couple of decades.
Rolled or not, it'll be a treasure in my collection.
Thank you Baxter...Thank you Art...

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Very nice! Please excuse my ignorance but was white with black (versus blue) only a test version?

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
@Pbama
Yes. It was only a test run. The black and white never made it into production. The can has been added in the test section of the Volume II Supplement. It's been assigned the CAN ID 238-11-5.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I know your a stckler for correct top lids. That looks like the same lid that was only used on the first original run & short run of Brown Olde Frothingsloths from 1967-68. then later reintroduced in 1970. If my faded memory serves me right?MI-Cans wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 10:11 am Got it last week. Finally able to take pics.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
@whitealtesziptopguy
@pinnacle-project
The fact of the matter is, when I spoke with Art at Frankenmuth, I told him whatever he thought was appropriate for the lid. He asked me to hold on for a minute and walked over to Oliver's table and brought the can he had rolled for Oliver.
It was an early pull tab with no instructions stamped on it. It did have the words "Aluminum" and "Pat Pend" stamped. Also, the ring was a true round one, not a altered one like on the later versions of pull tabs. I felt it could be appropriate, given the release of the original brown can with that lid and the subsequent release of all the solid color cans sometime after determining which colors to market.
So, I agreed to that one.
Are you saying you have a white can that is crimped? If so, you gotta post picture(s)!
