Need assistance in cleaning off an old price sticker

#1

Post by dtsoc »

This is a newly found flavor of a super rare can - book only lists a single ginger ale of this generation. It's got an old, brittle piece of glued paper. I'm looking for suggestions on how I might remove this without damaging the paint. I haven't done much to it. Tried WD-40 with no effect.
Thanks,
Dave T

I have had success with this product ( but have only tried on lids) and Avon Skin so Soft also. The citrus product was recommended from a
Door manufacture to remove glue that had seeped out from under some door molding. I sprayed it on a painted metal door surface and it never removed the paint just the gooey glue. Must be an ingredient in it that the engineers identified as a counter to the glue (citrus?) anyway it works on lids

I think this will work but use it gently or else it would be easy to go too far.

I use a product called De-Solv-It. It also has a citrusy smell. After 5-10 mins. the residue comes right off.

I have used window cleaner and hot water from the faucet very successfully. The good part is that there is nothing there that will hurt the paint.

I have a cleaning question as well. Just found this Red Top sign, and it has the residue from the paper laid between signs as they were stacked up. I haven't tried anything yet? Any advise from the formidable RB brain trust?

That's a cool sign Jim!

Looks like a light oxalic bath would remove some of the stuff.

I've also had good success using Flitz on signs like that.
