*****BUDWEISER 1945 CONE TOP ***** Replica Beer Can
This is the first replica Budweiser Crowntainer I've actually seen. I remember a thread on them from a while back.

That thing is scary. It looks very good. Did you touch it or pick it up? If you did is it heavy or feel fake?

Vey seldom unseen? OK...
It looks almost like plastic, despite the seller's comment that it's heavier than a real Crowntainer. The bottom rim is too large, the wrong color, and it appears to be a one-piece can...um, thing. The colors also appear to be mismatched between the body and the spout.

I think in the hand it would be a no brainer to tell it wasn't real. But on a shelf with other crowntainers it looks great.

The replica documentation states that the label was applied by the brewery. I thought CCS did that.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Keith, I do. We had fun with it then, but all we had was the newspaper insert to base our comments on. Now that we have seen a picture of the fake can it might be fun to go back and read the old thread. Thanks for the linkaussieguinnessman wrote:How many of you remember this thread from last year....

Looks like the colors don't match because the body portion is covered by a printed decal (then clear-coated?). Would be good for skeetshooting.mtracy64 wrote:Vey seldom unseen? OK...

Re: *****BUDWEISER 1945 CONE TOP ***** Replica Beer Can
At first glance it looked nice and like it might look alright for an AB collector to display with other AB cans, however when mixed with the other crowntainers besides the bottom rim being too think and the can too tall it is also too skinny (smaller diameter or circumference) and the shoulder/neck does not match up with the other crowntainers. For me it just don't fit in with crowntainers just like a flat top with a new lid that is a 1/4" shorter than the rest of the all originals. Personally I am disappointed in the results and in my opinion the makers of this replica should have done their homework and acquired an actual crowntainer to create the mold from. Clearly even if it were the correct shape/size it would not be mistaken for a real example.

Re: *****BUDWEISER 1945 CONE TOP ***** Replica Beer Can
I agree up close to a knowledgeable collector it won't pass the sniff test. But from a distance and to most people it looks right at home with the other crowntainers.

Re: *****BUDWEISER 1945 CONE TOP ***** Replica Beer Can
The Bud Bock in the collection photo is an obvious fake as well. This seller probably has a room full of plates from the Franklin mint down the hall. PT Barnum made his fortune off fools like this guy and the equally stupid people who are currently bidding on this paper weight.
Too bad it's not a bit larger so it could be marginally useful anchoring a boat.

Re: *****BUDWEISER 1945 CONE TOP ***** Replica Beer Can
So now everybody hates this guy, He is being very forward in his description of it being a replica. Why don't we call out the Bud corp. and tell them they are ruining our hobby by putting out this trash. Thats it, lets all boycott Budweiser. Through away all those cans in one big heap and light a fire to them. Thats it, that will show those Corporate big wigs.!!!!! Just wait till the other cans in this group come out, WOOOOWA it will be armageddon, the loss of all known logic !!!
I agree that the purest in this group can get there feathers up. But welcome to the 21st century. things are copied, marketed and profited on. Technology has gotten so good that it is difficult to spot the real McCoy. If people buy this thing and think its cool and then want more of the same thing our hobby grows. People are buying ditto cans and they look great and they want more and that means we can sell more of the real stuff. Bud did this to promote its brand. He's doing it to make money. Thank god we live in America where we can give our opinions and sell our stuff w/o dying. I wouldn't want to try selling this in Iran.
my 4 cents (inflation)
