Drives me nuts too! Makes me wonder how far one could shove that measuring tape up his !#$$*, but instead I am thinking maybe it's time to have some fun with measure it up Max. Start asking questions after telling him how it's great that someone selling beer cans on eBay finally gets it and how you ...

Re: Anybody reach out to our fellow members in harms way in Texas?
Harvey tried his best to drown us, but we were very fortunate to weather the storm. Was initially bummed that once again I was not able to attend Canvention because I work in education and this is the busiest two weeks of the year. I would probably still be stuck in an airport trying to get back to ...

Scott Johnson in Northwest Houston reporting that we are still above sea level and safe. We are very fortunate so far as they are rescuing people from high water less than a mile from my home near Cypress Creek. I saw Ken posting on Face Book this morning, so pretty sure he is alright as well. Thank...

2017 Houston Bottle Show take
I attended the Houston Antique bottle show yesterday during early admission and came home with a couple of surprises. The Cook's 500 is all original, bottom opened with vanity lid. The Falstaff cone is not the usual suspect from Omaha or St. Louis. This one is New Orleans and IRTP which is not liste...

 Bet the inventor never imagined how beer can collectors might use such a tool. I used to dream about having a device like that to see cans without busting holes everywhere. Bet we start seeing random holes in older buildings where cans used to be. Opens up a whole new world for beer can hunt...

Re: How do you display cans with special tops? (tax stamps etc.)
I use glass display cases with glass shelves and space between so the tops can be seen weather they are flats or cones with caps. Also leave space between the cans so almost all of the cans can be seen with the mirror backing minimizing the amount of handling. Not an efficient use of space by any me...

Re: Describe Your Collecting Niche
I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned set cans yet, as they are very popular and I know several guys on the board who collect them avidly . . . Schmidt's, Pfeiffer, Gretz, Red Top, Meister Brau, Esslinger, Rainier Jubilees, etc. Marc I know it is only one, but Number 3 on my list copied from above....

Interesting Seller Name this person has... potsniffer
So does he walk in the kitchen to sniff the cooking pots on the stove or is he actually sniffing pot? I thought pot was smoked. Way too many auctions ending early on eBay these days.

Yes, it was three more of the same Jacob Ruppert Ale's. Here is the quart that was found with them. Not the usual suspect for this label, this one is the less frequently seen Crown version (no ribs in the cone).mmerrig wrote:What brand were the cans he threw away? Did he remember?

30+ year old find finally reaches collector 2017
I was working to purchase a quart cone from a gentleman and after striking a deal, I asked if he had any other cans. He sent me the following picture and told me that over 30 years ago while living in Massachusetts he found several cans in a trap door in a basement. He removed the only 7 cans that w...

Wow, I used to live about 2 blocks from where the Hotel is now back in the 70's when I first started to collect cans. The hotel is built on what used to be a 120 year plus old orange grove (that was in the 70's) that I used to hunt for beer cans in. I found my first flat top right between where the ...

Pretty sure I have seen many of those crowns or very similar and also thinking that should be on a low profile or IR cone rather than a high profile cone. It was up for $850 last round. Thinking the decimal must be in the wrong spot, $7.50 starting bid?

Re: removing lids
I carefully pry the lid off with a pair of channel-locks. It takes ALOT of practice to do it proficiently and without damaging the donor lid. I'd recommend using 70's cans to practice on. Do you put anything to support the inner edges of the lid while you are prying like a seaming chuck? Is...
